Properly lighting a green screen
is the key element for a successeful post production when using the chroma keys effect. Different type of lighting exist: 1 point lighting, 2 point lighting, 3 point lighting... I prefere to use a 2 point lighting because its easyer to bounce off the shadows that appear on the green screen when you're lighting the subject.
For lighting the green screen it self, you can use your basic home spot light (2 x 500 watts lights per stand) or you can go for the studio equipement (2 x 800 watts Lowel Tota). Honestly, I'm using studio equipement, but it can be done with home spot lights for cheaper (depending on what kind of quality your looking for).
Lighting the subject becomes a more chanlenging task, depending on what the subject will be doing (sitting down, walking around...) your lights have to be placed differently. In the example im using the subject is sitting down, so you will want a flod light close to the subject (best thing is to have an umbrella to even out the light). You will also need a spot light from the opisite side, this is to even out the shades on the subject. If you decide to use a 3 point lighting the third light would be at the back of the subject, this elimenates shadows on the shoulders.
**It's important that the subject is at least 5 feet from the green screen (in front of the lights that are lighting the green screen)
